"Only Wanna Love Ya" is the first single from Sydney band Expatriate's debut album In the Midst of This. "Only Wanna Love Ya", like "Killer Kat" before it, was iTunes Australia's free download of the week. Around about the time of Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2007, the band encouraging fans to vote for the song in the hope that the song would chart, however it failed. Like the original version of "The Spaces Between" the song did not have a video. Although there is no coarse language in the song, due to its references to cocaine, the song was given an "Explicit" rating in Australia.

A demo of the song also exists which has many differences and similarities with the final version. The drum beat is identical, the synths differ slightly. and the main difference Ben King's vocals are given a distortion effect in the demo version, along with different lyrics and vocal melody.

In an interview with vocalist Ben King and keyboardist Damian Press the two have joked that the unusual sounds made in the chorus were generated by "stolen keyboards". It is also noted that "Only Wanna Love Ya" seems to be the only Expatriate song to date where, when performed live, King doesn't play an instrument instead walking around the stage. It has been mentioned by the band on numerous occasions that the song is "one of the most different sounding on the album".^{[citation needed]}
