Stanton is a small city located in western Orange County, California. The population was 37,403 at the 2000 census. It consists of many townhomes and small residential units built prior to 1960. In fact, since 1975, only 99 new residential units have been built within the city's limits. Attempts to revitalize the rapidly deteriorating infrastructure have been successful over the past few years. Projects like 'The Renaissance' and 'Garden Street' promise hundreds of new homes and urban-style stores.

Traveling between Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm via Orange County Transportation Authority buses requires a transfer at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard, which is located in Stanton.

A Stanton Police Officer, responding to a call to check the welfare of an apartment unit resident, found a five-year-old boy locked in a dark back room who was left at home alone for hours by his mother who was working as a prostitute after getting off her regular job at the Montgomery Ward service department. The boy pointed the gun at the officer who then fired one shot, killing the boy instantly. It turned out that the gun was a realistic looking toy gun.Dubious|date=March 2008

The District Attorney praised the officer for his actions. A grand jury found the Officer to be not guilty of any wrongdoing.
