Marina Aidaeva (Chechen: Марина Айдаева) (born in Grozny, Chechnya) is a popular Chechen torch singer.

Biography

Marina was born in Grozny, the Chechen capital, but at a young age she moved with her family to Aqtau, Kazakhstan, a seaport on the Caspian Sea, and spent her childhood there. (As a result of the forced deportations of the Chechens and Ingush to Central Asia on February 23, 1944, there has been a large Chechen population living in Kazakhstan.) Her father, Lom-Ali Aidaev, was a well-known singer and composer in Chechnya.

Marina graduated from the Almaty Conservatory, specializing in piano, and in 1999 she arrived in Moscow to debut in a concert with Chechen poet and songwriter Musa Geshaev, and since then she has toured throughout Russia as well as Germany, France, Belgium, and Norway. Her first album, "My Love", includes songs from Chechen poetry.

Marina currently lives in Moscow.
