Millennium High School is a public high school located in 75 Broad Street in New York City. Unusual to New York public high schools, the school occupies the 11th, 12th, and 13th floors of the former ITT building, in the financial district of Lower Manhattan, according to insideschools.org [2].

The space within the building was made possible with several million dollars worth of grants from the federal government in 2003, as well as contributions from concerned groups such as New Visions for Public Schools, in an attempt to revitalize the lower Manhattan area following the September 11, 2001 attacks. However, the school itself at that point, in order to accommodate student demand, had been, for a year, located in the High School of Art and Design in Upper Manhattan on an interim basis.

The interior is very modern, colorful, open, and well-lit. The design, being that of a school within an office building, uses larger rooms and gathering spaces more often than corridors and sealed doors, because of the unique architecture the space offers.

The school is mostly an academic based school, despite being considered an alternative, albeit, smaller, high school. However, the school has a unique partnership with the YMCA of Greater New York, and provides numerous extra-curricular offerings, sports organizations, and other activities for the students. As a small school the Advanced Placement courses are few including AP English (language and literature), AP United States History, and AP Calculus.

Millennium High School was founded in 2002 with a $500,000 grant from New Visions for Public Schools with money donated from Bill and Melinda Gates, the Carnegie Corporation, and the Open Society Institute. The school's new home is located on the 11th, 12th, and 13th floors of 75 Broad Street. Community Board 1 raised $12 million dollars to build the school.

The Phoenix is the school's mascot, meant to symbolize the school rising from the ashes of the September 11th World Trade center attacks.
