Warren, Arkansas is a city in Bradley County, Arkansas, United States. The United States Census Bureau estimated population in 2006 was 8,143. [ [http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/files/SUB-EST2006-almo.csv Census Bureau estimates of population of subcounty entities] ] . The city is the county seat of Bradley CountyGR|6.

Geography

Warren is located at coor dms|33|36|37|N|92|4|11|W|city (33.610245, -92.069804)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.9 square miles (17.8 km²), of which, 6.9 square miles (17.8 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.29%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, the racial makeup of the city was 52.46% White, 46.79% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.82% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. 5.08% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 2,569 households out of which 29.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.6% were married couples living together, 17.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 84.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $22,162, and the median income for a family was $27,618. Males had a median income of $27,778 versus $17,247 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,453. About 24.3% of families and 28.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 37.4% of those under age 18 and 23.9% of those age 65 or over.

Cultural events

* The Warren Chamber of Commerce hosts one of Arkansas's longest-running annual community festivals, the Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival, which celebrates the South Arkansas vine-ripe pink tomato — Arkansas's state fruit and vegetable. Warren Arkansas pink tomato festival is held every year around the beginning of June. They have a tomato eating contest, a pagent, a dog show, and a lot of very fun things to do with your family here in Warren Arkansas.

The Fighting Lumberjacks

The Warren School District's mascot is the Lumberjacks. The Lumberjacks were the Arkansas Football AAA State Champions in 2001 and 2002. They were the AAA state baseball champions in 2005. Warren High School has produced several talented athletes.
