The Choice Program is a not-for-profit organization administered by The Shriver Center at the University of Maryland which seeks to prevent recidivism among juvenile probationers by providing a series of round-the-clock services to at-risk youth and their families. Founded in Baltimore City in 1987, the program has since expanded its locations to other counties and cities such as Hartford, Connecticut, San Diego, California, and Syracuse, New York. Through Americorps, caseworkers sign a one-year contract and are provided training to help mentor and advocate for youth as part of a three-person team assisting the family and the legal system.
