NCircle Entertainment is a division of Alliance Entertainment Corporation (AEC), which is the largest single source of home entertainment.
AEC and NCircle are owned by a consortium of two Los Angeles based private equity firms, The Gores Group and Platinum Equity. They were previously owned by Source Interlink. Source Interlink Companies (SORC)is a leading marketing, merchandising and fulfillment company of entertainment products including DVDs, music CDs, magazines, books and related items. With an annual run rate revenue in excess of $3 billion, Source Interlink serves about 110,000 retail store locations throughout North America. Supply chain relationships include movie studios, record labels, magazine and newspaper publishers, confectionary companies and manufacturers of general merchandise.
NCircle was founded in 2006. The company is based in Dallas, Texas, and led by industry veteran Debbie Ries. Ms. Ries was instrumental in the launch and success of Barney the Dinosaur from the 1980s until 2006, and was a senior executive and board member at HIT Entertainment until 2006. She was also instrumental in the success of many popular children's brands including Barney, The Wiggles, Bob the Builder, Veggie Tales and more.
NCircle Entertainment has acquired content from several studios. Content includes The Wiggles, a children's group from Sydney, Australia, Other notable content includes WordWorld, a new pre-literacy series for preschoolers which airs daily on the national PBS feed. Horseland, which airs on CBS Saturday mornings, a new PBS show, Sid the Science Kid by the Jim Henson Company, Hopla, a hugely successful show for preschoolers in Europe (studio: Bert Smets Productions), Pocoyo (Studio: Granada Ventures), Hermie and Friends (Studio: Tommy Nelson), DIC Entertainment catalog titles (Super Mario Bros, Sonic Underground, The Legend of Zelda, and more), Mighty Machines (Studio: Seville Pictures), Will & Dewitt and Magi-Nation by Cookie Jar Entertainment, Chloe's Closet, Dive Olly Dive by Taffy Entertainment and several others.
