1967 - 1999
Vince Saville, Jimmy Saville's Brother, founded Radio Glamorgan in 1967. The Radio station was based at Cardiff Royal Infirmary before relocating to the basement of the University Hospital of Wales in 1974.1999 - 2006
In 1999, After lottery funding and lots of fundraising by Staff, Radio Glamorgan relocated to a brand new studio situated opposite theX-Ray department , a 5-minute walk from the Main Concourse of the Hospital.2007 - 40th Year of Broadcasting
2007 marked Radio Glamorgan’s 40th Anniversary & to celebrate a series of events were organised to celebrate.
30th March - 1st April 2007 - 40 hour broadcast took place. The main aim was to Raise money for the Station. The Event attracted large press activity from theSouth Wales Echo .
August 18th 2007 - Radio Glamorgan hosted a Balloon Race at Mermaid Quay In Cardiff Bay.
November 16th 2007 - Radio Glamorgan hosted its 2nd inaguaral Awards Evening where the brand new website was launched.New Website Launch
2nd year students at
UWIC were briefed to design a website for a real client, That client being Radio Glamorgan.
There were many excellent prototypes presented but after discussion, The Radio Glamorgan Committee chose the website designed by student Amy Edwards which was officially launched on November 16th 2007.Radio Glamorgan Awards
For the past 2 years Radio Glamorgan has hosted its own Awards Evening to recognise work and effort done by Radio Glamorgan Presenters over the Year.

After a successful 40th year of Broadcasting, Radio Glamorgan were shortlisted in the Category for Special Event for the broadcast of Up-&-Rising 2007 in the National
Hospital Broadcasting Association Awards .On Saturday 29th March 2008 at the
Queens Hotel inLeeds , It was announced that Hospital Radio Glamorgan had won the Silver award in the Category of Special Event. It is the first National award for the station in its 40 year history.NHS at 60 - 2008
As part of a special series of programmes by ITV Wales News, 2 of Radio Glamorgan presenters were interviewed by Carl Edwards for a volunteering section for their national news programme. Radio Glamorgan were featured on 2 of the main news on ITV1 broadcasted on the Friday 4th July 2008 and Saturday 5th July 2008.
