radio station serving the City ofCardiff , Capital ofWales in the UK. It broadcasts locally on 98.7 FM and via live streaming on the Internet.The station has a MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) music policy, and features
reggae ; soul;funk ;jazz ; soca; calypso; world music: bhangra; hip-hop;R&B ;house music etc...The regular schedule also includes local news bulletins, and a daily magazine programme broadcast on weekday lunchtimes featuring community news and information; local sports coverage on Saturday afternoons and Monday evenings; a programme presented & produced by 12-18 year olds on Saturday mornings; and weekly show by students from the University of Glamorgan.
Radio Cardiff 98.7 FM began live broadcasting on Monday
8 October 2007 . It is part-funded by Communities First and the European Union Social Fund (ESF Objective 3), and is initially broadcasting on an initial 5 year licence. Butetown , Cardiff was held on25 October 2007 in an event attended by Rt. Funding problems led to the station closing down temporarily on 15th July 2008 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/cardiff-news/2008/07/18/sound-of-silence-at-radio-cardiff-91466-21363082/ - but it was back on air a week later with a presenter-less music format. The station is now in negotiations with the University Of Glamorgan to relaunch as a partnership http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7525657.stm.
The University of Glamorgan also has a partnership arrangement with Pontypridd-based community radio station GTFM http://glamlife.glam.ac.uk/community/459 It has studios at it's central Cardiff creative arts campus known as The Atrium http://cci.glam.ac.uk/
