Dean of St Paul's from November 1996 to 31 August 2006, on which date he retired. Nottingham University andTrinity Hall, Cambridge , John Moses wasDean of St Paul's from 1996 to 2006. After training at Lincoln Theological College he was ordained in 1964 and went on to serve first asassistant curate of St Andrew's, Bedford, then later as Rector of the Coventry East Team Ministry and asRural Dean of Coventry East. In 1977 he was appointedArchdeacon ofSouthend , also serving as theBishop of Chelmsford 's Officer for Industry and Commerce, as Chairman of the Diocesan Retreat House and as Chairman of the Diocesan Advisory Committee. In 1982 he became Provost ofChelmsford before taking over as Dean of St Paul's in 1996. He has published a number of books including The Sacrifice of God (1992) and A Broad and Living Way (1995). In 1992 he was appointed the first Rector ofAnglia Ruskin University . In 1997 The Very Reverend Dr John H Moses was made an Honorary Doctor of the University.Usually, holders of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) are entitled to be called "Sir"; however, as Dr Moses is a clergyman he will only use the post-nominals "KCVO".
