According to the
U.S. Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 20.0square mile s (51.8km² ), of which, 20.0 square miles (51.7 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.30%) is water.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 13,556 people, 5,342 households, and 3,739 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 679.5 people per square mile (262.4/km²). There were 5,611 housing units at an average density of 281.2/sq mi (108.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 92.13% White, 2.11% Black or African American, 0.07% Native American, 2.72% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.85% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 3.87% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. The township has a largeAmish andMennonite population.There were 5,342 households out of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 24.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $46,179, and the median income for a family was $54,494. Males had a median income of $36,718 versus $25,578 for females. The
