Gibson E. Armstrong who has represented the District since 1984 and will retire at the end of 2008. Armstrong previously served as the State Representative for Pennsylvania's 100th Legislative District (Part of Lancaster County).Candidates running to replace Senator Armstrong in the primary which was held April 22, 2008 were Republicans: Bill Neff, Lloyd Smucker, Paul Thibault, and Steve McDonald and Democrat Jose Urdaneta. Republican Lloyd Smucker and Bill Neff and Democrat Jose Urdaneta will face off in the November election.
