Mohawk, Tennessee

Mohawk is an unincorporated community in southern Greene County, Tennessee, United States, located 15 miles (24 km) northwest of the city of Greeneville. It is home to a post office, with zip code 37810.

Mohawk is home to McDonald Elementary School, a Greene County public school that includes kindergarten through grade 8. The school was originally McDonald High School, built in 1919 on 6 acres (24,000 m2) of land donated by Alex Ailshe. Its namesake was Earnest McDonald, a wealthy bachelor who donated money to build the school. The original building was demolished in 1957, and replaced by the brick building in use today. McDonald High School was dissolved after the 1966-67 school year, when the school was converted to an elementary school.[1]
