lighthouse to be built on the west coast ofCanada . It is just off the southern tip ofVancouver Island , about 16 km SW ofVictoria, British Columbia .The lighthouse was built between
1859 -1860 by the crew of HMS "Topaz" and outside labourers under a contract awarded to John Morris by theBritish Government .
