Osceola County School for the Arts, also known as OCSA, is an audition-only public arts school located in Kissimmee, Florida.[1] Students who are residents of Osceola County can attend OCSA for the following majors: Visual Art, Drama, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Creative Writing, Dance, or Technical Theater. OCSA serves grades 6-12 where middle school students (grades sixth, seventh, and eighth) may only major in Dance or Instrumental Music.
Overview
OCSA's enrollment is currently 760 students. OCSA is a minority/majority school in that female students outnumber male students by approximately 2.5 to 1. Over 50% of juniors and seniors are enrolled in AP (Advanced Placement) classes.
It has been rated an "A" school in the grading system that uses the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test as its standard for six consecutive years, a 'Silver Medal' School by US News & World Report 2008, named an "American Top Public High School" by Newsweek 2009 and a "5 Star" school.[citation needed]
