Darras Hall is a housing estate that resides on the suburbs of Ponteland approximately 8 miles to the north of Newcastle Upon Tyne. It is approximately 2 miles away from Newcastle International Airport and is one of the most affluent estates in the North East of England. Some famous current and former professional footballers such as Alan Shearer and Peter Beardsley live on the estate. Nearby towns and villages are Throckley, Westerhope, Gosforth, Hazlerigg, Brunswick. Local shopping facilities are located at the 'Broadway Shopping Centre'.

At present there is a vast amount of building work occurring all over Darras Hall rendering it largely unrecognisable from its appearance as little as ten years ago. In times gone by Darras Hall was replete with bungalows set in large sprawling and expansive grounds. These large plots have and are being utilised to produce vast mansions further adding to the exclusivity of Darras Hall. Many of the gardens in Darras Hall still have evidence of being part of a grand house. A cursory glance of most gardens will highlight the presence of various apple trees and plum trees, remnants of the old orchards that once sprawled the countryside.

The exlusivity of Darras Hall is in part regulated by the existence of the Darras Hall Committee[1] . The committee are responsible for disputes among residents and also ensure that all houses are kept in good order by their inhabitants.
