The Steele Creek Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows Steele Creek in the inner northern suburb of Keilor East in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The trail will make for a useful shortcut between the Western Ring Road Trail in the north and the Maribyrnong River Trail in the south, once the Valley Lake Estate housing development is completed. The Victorian State Government has committed money for an underpass of Buckley St [ [http://www.dpc.vic.gov.au/domino/Web_Notes/newmedia.nsf/bc348d5912436a9cca256cfc0082d800/f6390873c46a14d2ca257410007a8db5!OpenDocument Victorian State Government Media Release - underpass of Buckley St] ] which will vastly improve the link to the Maribyrnong River Trail.

Following the Path

The trail has a large gap at the site of the [http://www.bpd.com.au/projects/valleylake/valleylake_main.htm Valley Lake Estate housing development] , currently (2008) being built on an old quarry site in Niddrie. Once completed (estimated as late 2008) the cyclist will be able to traverse the full length of the trail. There is a small but busy road section at Keilor Rd and Woorite Pl at the northern end. Other than that, navigation is straight forward.

Connections

Meets the Western Ring Road Trail in the north and the Maribyrnong River Trail in the south. It connects to the Maribyrnong River Trail on the south side of Buckley St, opposite Lily St.
