London Midland and Scottish Railway , to cater for a large inter-war housing development. It was named for the famous localbrass band . The station forms part of Ticketing Zone B. It is unique, as it is the only original station on the Bury-Manchester line to have oneisland platform .Connecting Bus Routes

First Manchester high frequency 135 Yellow Line service runs betweenBury andManchester and stops adjacent to the station as do services 93, 137 and 138.
