It is the only Painesville Township statewide.
Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees. As well, there is an appointed township administrator. Currently, the trustees are Angelo Cicconetti, Jeanette Crislip, and James Falvey, the fiscal officer is Michael Patriarca, and the administrator is Lee Bodnar. Riverside Local School District , formerly the Painesville Township Local Schools.Riverside High School (Painesville, Ohio) ] is the high school. In addition Painesville Township has 4 elementary schools, Hale Road Elementary, Madison Avenue Elementary, Hadden Elementary, and Buckeye Elementary.Industry and Transportation
Painesville Township is home to several industries, most notable the large
Lubrizol facility.Avery Dennison also has a plant in the township, as well asTanner Industries andNova Chemicals . Major transportation routes in the township areU.S. Route 20 and State Routes 2 and 84. Two major railroads,CSX , as well asNorfolk Southern pass through the township and serve some of the township's industries. AdditionallyAmtrak passes through on the CSX line, with trains 48 and 49, theLake Shore Limited trains. However these trains do not stop in the township. Painesville Township is home to the Lake County fair, which is held every August. Events such as
harness racing ,truck and tractor pull , competitions as well as concerts performed by big namecountry music bands take place at the fair. Painesville Township hasHeadlands Beach State Park , which is shared with the neighboring community of Mentor. TheUS Coast Guard has a base in the township, located just east of Headlands Beach.References
