About

Bluffview is so named for its relatively hilly topography—it lies along cliffs overlooking Bachman Branch and its tributaries. Some of the cliffs the neighborhood is built on rise 50 feet (15 m) over the water below.

History

The neighborhood was originally developed as Bluff View Estates by developer John P. Stevens, also responsible for Stevens Park in Oak Cliff. In 1924, he bought a 215 acres (0.9 km²) dairy farm along Bachman Creek and developed the land into 1 acre (4,046.9 m²) lots. The area was annexed by Dallas in 1943.

Education

The neighborhood is served by the Dallas Independent School District. Children in the neighborhood attend Sudie L. Williams Elementary School (located within the neighborhood), Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and Hillcrest High School. Private schools

Providing early education for three year olds through eighth grade, Holy Trinity is the oldest continually operating Catholic school in North Texas.
