Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The school was opened in 1951 and named in honor of John T. McNicholas, fifth bishop and third Archbishop of Cincinnati.
In 1915 St. Joseph Academy was opened as a day and boarding school operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Medaille. In 1950 Archbishop McNicholas designated the academy would become the first co-ed parochial high school in Cincinnati. Archbishop McNicholas died defore the school was opened and his successor, Archbishop Karl J. Alter approved on January 15, 1951 that the school be named for Archbishop McNicholas.
The school was purchased from the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Medaille by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati on July 1, 1998.
The geographic district of McNicholas High School is on the eastern side of Hamilton County and extends into Clermont and Brown Counties. 19 Catholic parishes have "feeder" elementary schools where students come from within the district.

Academics
The curriculum is accredited by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association. 97% of the students attending McNicholas High School further their education in post-secondary schools and colleges. It is required that students have one Religion focused class during attendance at McNicholas.
Turning Point Campaign
A culmination of many different listening sessions and surveys resulted in the realization Archbishop McNicholas High School was in dire need to expand and update campus facilities.
In 1970, a gym was constructed. An auxiliary gym was constructed in 2006. The TurningPoint Capital Campaign set out with the goal of generating $3.5 million necessary to address immediate and crucial needs of the school.
Project Paradise
A football stadium is currently under construction behind the school the project is called "Project Paradise", the stadium will be completed in phases. The first phase which is already done includes the installation of turf, a 400-meter asphalt track, a scoreboard and goal posts, along with temporary bleachers. For phase two, The school is raising funds to add permanent bleachers and fencing, along with converting the asphalt track to an all-weather surface track.[2]
In the final phase during 2011, the school will complete the installation of the bleachers, build new restrooms, and a concession stand. The school will also build a “field house” with locker rooms, weight room, and a meeting room. The final phase also includes the installation of permanent stadium lights. The school hopes to complete the entire project by the end of 2012. [3]

Theatre
The McNicholas Theatre is a fairly low-budget organization. Students play a key role in the production of school plays and musicals, in areas such as acting, directing, stage managing, costuming, properties, lighting, sound and publicity. Due to a donation from the Seimers family, McNicholas's former "Studio 100" was renamed The Jeanne Spurlock Theatre in 2011, and was updated in terms of technology and seating. McNicholas also hosts an alumni theatre group, the Paradise Players. The McNicholas Theatre Department hosts International Theaspian Troupe 4737.
