The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), is an agency of the government of Ontario (Ministry of Culture) and one of Canada’s leading grantmaking foundations. It was created in 1982. Foundation grants are provided to eligible Ontario not-for-profit and charitable organizations in the areas of arts and culture, the environment, human and social services and sports and recreation.
The Foundation builds healthy and vibrant communities by strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives in two granting programs: Community and Province-Wide.
The Community Program is overseen by local volunteers who work in regional Grant Review Teams, reviewing applications and recommending projects for funding. The Foundation's Board of Directors oversees the approval of applications to the Province-Wide program and provides final approval for grants in both programs. Deadlines for applications are March 1, July 1, and November 1. A standard application along with a simplified application for small capital grants under $15,000 are available at the organization's website.
