2001 in an attempt to go head to head with the longtime urban radio leader in Chicago,WGCI-FM (Crawford Broadcasting previously had aChristian talk format on the 92.3 frequency for over 40 years under the call letters WYCA). At one time WPWX carried the Doug Banks Morning Show (of whom worked at WGCI in the mid-90's) until it was dropped in 2004. WPWX radio personalities include Trey the Choklit Jock, Nikki, Donnie Devoe, The Hot Boyz, DJ Pharris, Ozman, Esko, Keno, and Teefa. The station also features disc jockeys Kid Scratch and BooluMaster.
