The original business, including a warehouse and retail store, was located in Reno, Nevada, where a retail store is still in operation. Catalogs

The first Sierra Trading Post catalog had 16 pages of hand-drawn merchandise printed in two colors. Today, the company mails nine catalog titles with hundreds of items in each catalog, represented in full-color digital photography. The company’s catalog line has expanded to include specialty titles, as well as the original "core" catalog. All catalogs are mailed several times per year.

* Sierra Outdoors has equipment, gear and apparel for outdoor activities such as hunting, camping and fishing. Outdoor work wear and foot wear are also sold in the Outdoors catalog.

* Sierra Adventure Edge has outdoor gear and apparel including skiing, biking, running and adventure sports.

* Sierra Travel has travel equipment, luggage and clothing.

* The Hot Deals catalog only has items priced at $99.95 or less and includes products from every category sold at Sierra Trading Post.

History

Sierra Trading Post was founded in Reno, Nevada in 1986 by Keith Richardson and his wife Bobbi. The original location had convert|500|sqft|m2|0 of office space.
