- Stangvik
Stangvik is a village and former municipality in
Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.The municipality was created in 1837 as Stangvig
formannskapsdistrikt . According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 3,183.In 1873 a part of Stangvik with 61 inhabitants was moved to
Tingvoll , and in 1877 a part with 50 inhabitants was moved toSurnadal . Parts of Surnadal andHalsa with 83 and 279 people respectively. were moved to Stangvik in 1879. The farms Møklegjerdet and Sjøflot, with 29 and 27 inhabitants respectively, were moved to Surnadal in 1886 and 1897. On1 May 1895 Åsgård was split from Stangvik to constitute a municipality of its own, leaving Stangvik with 2,354 inhabitants.On
1 January 1965 the districtÅlvundfjord with 508 inhabitants was moved toSunndal and the district Åsprong–Sandnes with 26 inhabitants was moved to Tingvoll. The rest of Stangvik, with 1,386 inhabitants, was incorporated into Surnadal.References
