Åsskard

Åsskard

Åsskard is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.

It was created by a split from Stangvik on May 1, 1895. At that time Åsskard had a population of 629. On 1 January 1915 a district of Halsa with 114 inhabitants was moved to Halsa.

On 1 January 1965 Åsskard was incorporated into the neighboring municipality Surnadal. Before the merger Åsskard had a population of 1.014.

The village Åsskard is located in the western part of Surnadal, in the end of the Åsskardfjord.
