Abram Booty

Abram Booty (born 1978), was a wide receiver for the LSU Tigers (1997-1999) and the Valdosta State Blazers (2001).

High School

Booty went to Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, LA. As wide receiver for the football team, Booty had 5,867 receiving yards and 83 receiving touchdowns, setting the national high school record.

College

In 1997, Booty went to the Louisiana State University (LSU) to play football for LSU's football team. During three seasons at LSU, Booty caught 117 passes for 1,768 yds.

*As a freshman (1997), Booty caught 35 passes for 550 yards and 1 touchdown, second only to WR Larry Foster's 579 yards. His best games were in #14 LSU's 28-21 victory over #1 Florida (4 receptions for 101 yards) and in #17 LSU's 31-21 victory over Arkansas (10 receptions for 116 yards). In the Independence Bowl at the end of the season, Booty was the only receiver to catch any passes (5 receptions for 61 yards and 1 touchdown), helping #15 LSU to a 27-9 victory over Notre Dame.

*As a sophomore (1998), Booty was the team's leading receiver, catching 54 passes for 779 yards and 5 touchdowns. His best game was in LSU's 36-39 loss at #10 Notre Dame, catching 8 passes for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns.

*As a junior (1999), Booty's brother, Josh Booty, became LSU's primary quarterback. Regardless, Abram only caught 26 for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns, second only to Jerel Myers' 854 yards. Booty's best game was LSU's 23-42 loss to #25 Ole Miss, catching 5 passes for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns.

*As a senior (2000), Booty was injured early in the season.

In 2001, Booty transferred to play receiver at Division II Valdosta State in Georgia.

Professional career

He was offered the opportunity to play in NFL Europe but turned it down.

Booty is now a Regional Vice President for Primerica Financial Services, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Trivia

One of Booty's younger brothers, John David Booty, was the starting quarterback at USC, and is currently a member of the Minnesota VIkings. Another brother, Josh Booty, was a starting quarterback for the LSU Tigers.

He is still in the top 5 of 8 national receiving records and holds 1st place in two.
