El Monte Elementary School is a public primary school located in Concord, California which educates students from kindergarten to fifth grade. The school is part of the Mount Diablo Unified School District. As of 2006, the school principal is Robert Humphrey.

The school was founded in 1955. Its name, which means "the mountain" in Spanish, refers to nearby Mount Diablo.

Academics

El Monte students have been locally and nationally recognized for their efforts. Most recently, eleven fifth-grade language arts students from El Monte have had their poems accepted for publication in a national poetry anthology, !'A Celebration of Young Poets".
