Yerong Creek is a small village situated in the Riverina area of southern New South Wales. It is about 46 kilometres south west of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway. It is serviced twice daily by the Intercity Express Train XPT which travels along the Main Southern Railway line between Sydney to Melbourne. (There is no stop listed in timetables for Yerong Creek; the nearest stations are The Rock to the north, where the XPT stops by request, and Henty to the south.)

Whilst Yerong Creek is predominantly a mixed farming and grazing area it holds a claim in Australian history when in 1991 the XPT established the Australian Rail Speed Record of 193 kilometres per hour between the nearby area known as Table Top and the township [ [http://www.travelmate.com.au/Places/Places.asp?TownName=Yerong+Creek_%5C_NSW Travelmate - Yerong Creek, NSW] ]
