Kai Ho was the forth son of the late
Reverand Ho Tsun Shin of theLondon Missionary Society and brother ofHo Miu-ling . He married Alice Walkden (February 3rd 1852-June 8, 1884) inEngland (1881) and return to Hong Kong after his studies. Career
Young Kai Ho started his career as a supreme court interpreter in the 1860s. In 1871 he traveled to United Kingdom to first study Medicine at the
University of Aberdeen , then studied law inLondon . He returned to Hong Kong in 1877, and began his path of changing the landscape of Hong Kong's colleges and universities. The Chinese culture at the time placed a heavy emphasis onTraditional Chinese medicine and Chinese citizens of the late 19th century had a number of suspicion aboutWestern medicine . Sir Ho not only gained the people's acceptance, but also helped the British make possible a number of health related establishments that otherwise would have been misunderstood by the public. In 1887 theHong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese was opened. He made it an initiative that Chinese doctors too could benefit from an institution that focus on western medicine.Throughout his life time, he was an advocate supporter for
Sun Yat-sen and his revolution to overthrow China'sManchu -ledQing dynasty .Additional role
