Debeweyin

Debeweyin (Somali: Dabaweyn) is one of the 47 woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Korahe Zone, Debeweyin is bordered on the south and west by the Gode Zone, on the north by Kebri Dahar, and on the east by Shilavo. The major town in Debeweyin is Har Ad.

The only perennial river in this woreda is the Fafen. As of 2008, Debeweyin has 60 kilometers of all-weather gravel road and 2114 kilometers of community roads; about 25.8% of the total population has access to drinking water.[1]

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 84,520, of whom 34,947 were men and 49,573 were women; 6,449 or 7.63% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 18.2%. Information is not available on the area of Debeweyin, so its population density cannot be calculated.[2] This woreda is primarily inhabited by the Darod and some Hawiye clans of the Somali people.
