Russia (Росси́я, Rossiya), a country in northern Eurasia officially known as the Russian Federation, is the modern successor state of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and the Soviet Union.

  • Great Russia, now the European part of the Russian Federation where ethnic Russians are native, excluding Tatarstan, Moldavia, Komi and Caucasus area which are not ethnic-Russian (now autonomous republics of non-Russian ethnicities)

  • Novorossiya (New Russia), now South Ukraine and Moldavia
  • White Russia (White Ruthenia), roughly corresponding to the present-day Belarus, in particular its eastern regions
