(2007)Professional ratings Review scores Source Rating Rolling Stone [1] Meet The Smithereens! is the seventh studio album by Carteret, New Jersey-based rock band The Smithereens. The album features the band covering The Beatles' 1964 debut American album, Meet The Beatles!.[2] Based on the fact that he is not on the cover and that he is not credited in the insert booklet, this is The Smithereens' first album without original bassist Mike Mesaros (replaced by Severo "The Thrilla" Jornacion). According to Pat DiNizio, the band immersed themselves in 1964 ephemera (like the bobbleheads that made the cover) in preparation for recording.[3] The album was released in stores on January 16, 2007.[4] However, iTunes added it on January 6, ten days before the album was set to release in stores.
