Later on there were three tracks running through the station - two serviced the island platform and the third track was the last surviving stabling track. The third track was removed after a period of inactivity. When the signals were upgraded to a totally electronic system one of the old mechanical signals was relocated to the side of the station where the third track used to be with a plaque on the platform explaining its historical significance.
