Lists Hospitals in Canada

The Montreal General Hospital (French: Hôpital Général de Montréal) is a hospital in Montreal, Canada, established on May 1, 1819 and an early teaching hospital. First located on the corner of Craig (today St-Antoine) and St-Lawrence Streets with only 24 beds, it moved in 1822 to a new 72-bed building on Dorchester Street. It is currently situated on Mount Royal, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Côte-des-Neiges Road. It is one of several English-language hospitals in Montreal.

MGH is a part of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) network of teaching hospitals associated with McGill University.

MGH has been designated by the Quebec government a level one trauma centre, one of two in Montreal (the other being the Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal).

A similar hospital under the same ownership exists with the same name as Montreal Children's Hospital.

The present location of the MGH is sited for the expansion and development into the MUHC Mountain campus, which will house the cardiac critical care and level one trauma centres. The campus will also be the future site of the Montreal Neurological Hospital upon its relocation from its present site in McGill University.[1]
