March 23 ,1918 ) is a formerMajor League Baseball pitcher who played for theBoston Red Sox (1943-1944), Philadelphia Blue Jays (1944), andPhiladelphia Phillies (1945). The right-hander stood 5'8" and weighed 160 lbs. He was born inNorthbridge, Massachusetts .Lucier is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in the major leagues during
World War II . He made hismajor league debut on April 23, 1943 in relief against the Philadelphia Athletics atShibe Park . His first major league win was in the second game of a doubleheader atComiskey Park on May 16, 1943. He was thestarting pitcher in a 4-2 victory over theChicago White Sox .Career totals include 33
games pitched , 9 starts, 3complete games , a 3-5 record with 16games finished , 1 save, 43earned runs allowed in 101.2 innings, and an ERA of 3.81.
