Calcitonin receptor

Calcitonin receptor

The calcitonin receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor which binds the peptide hormone calcitonin and is involved in maintenance of calcium homeostasis.cite journal | author = Purdue BW, Tilakaratne N, Sexton PM | title = Molecular pharmacology of the calcitonin receptor | journal = Recept. Channels | volume = 8 | issue = 3-4 | pages = 243–55 | year = 2002 | pmid = 12529940 | doi = | issn = ]

It works by activating the G-proteins Gs and Gq [ [http://senselab.med.yale.edu/NeuronDB/receptors2.asp#Neuropeptide%20Y%20receptors, senselab] ]
