Chandola (चनदोला्) [1] [2]is a North Indian surname, frequent among brahmins and mostly used in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. They are said to have come to Uttarakhand from Gujarat/Punjab and first settled in chandok Bijnor and then moved to Raii village (often called Chandola Raii to distinguish it from villages with similar names) in District Pauri Garhwal. In the present generation. Chandolas have also settled in Kumaon where they are primarily located around the village of Vijaypur which is 16 km from Kanda. Chandola [3] caste is a high class brahmin of Uttranchal and religious people. The main village is Pokhari and Del Mal in Vijaipur, Distt- Bageshwar in Kumaon.

Chandola in Kumaon region, basically in villages of Kanda mainly near Vijaypur. Ist devata is Dhauli Nag, staying 1 Km from Vijaypur. Yearly mela/bhandara is celebrated. Now these days Chandolas are working all over world. But Kumaoni chandolas are in several generation and still limited numbers, and inherited from a family.
