The National Youth Council of Singapore (Malay : Majlis Belia Kebangsaan Singapura) otherwise known as the National Youth Council (NYC) is the nationally-sanctioned youth council in Singapore and a division of the People's Association.[1] It was set up by the Singapore Government on 1 November 1989 as the national co-ordinating body for youth affairs in Singapore. Various council members represent government ministries, academic and youth organisations, volunteer and media organisations as well as private fims. Traditionally, the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports holds the chairmanship; the current chairman is Chan Chun Sing.
The National Youth Council last held a review of its vision and mission in January 2009. In July 2009, National Youth Council published the new vision and mission - where the National Youth Council asserted itself as "the Advocate, Connector and Enabler for Youth". It declared it aimed to "develop... vibrant supportive environment for youth" and identified itself with "inspired" youth who dream about action to "bring about a future that they want." The Council runs many youth-focused programmes and awards.
It also organises funding schemes that various youth projects and organisations favourable to NYC's agenda can apply for, such as the Youth Innovation Grant, Youth Development and Training Grant, Youth Research Grant, Singapore – ASEAN Youth Fund, and so forth.

- Young ChangeMakers
Targeted at people from the age of 13 to 35, the Young ChangeMakers (YCM) scheme is programme that provides individuals or informal youth groups with funding of up to 80% of project cost, or $3,000, whichever is lower, to implement a short-term projects benefiting to their local community. - National Youth Forum
The National Youth Forum (NYF) was established under the vision of NYC in 2004 after Lee Hsien Loong exhorted in the state press to "enhance the level of youth civic participation". Inspired by recommendations to give young people a greater say, the NYF was then created to "help equip" the youth a "better understanding" policy-making processes in Singapore.
- Scape
Scape is a two-hectare community area built "for the youth, by the youth".
- SHINE
SHINE is the Singaporean government's attempt at connecting with the youth through a festival celebrating youth culture in Singapore.
The NYC also organises festivals and programmes in an attempt to draw the youth into extreme sports.
Overseas programmes
The NYC also organises a large segment of overseas volunteer tourism programmes, such as the Youth Expedition Project, a project that "youth volunteers interested [in] overseas community service" can apply for, study and exchange activities organised under a forum dedicated towards "young adults' understanding of ASEAN, and friendship programmes between other youth councils of other countries, such as that of Malaysia, ASEAN and Japan.
