Contents

Gameplay

The game is based on the same engine as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 and as such is similar in how goals are approached.

Adventure Mode

  • In Adventure mode the skaters indigenous to their own world compete in skate challenges. They are restricted to their worlds. The human skater can move in and out of any world.

Free Play

  • In free play the skater can skate in any world they are indigenous to but not compete in the challenges. The human skater can continue to skate in any world.

Two Player Verses

  • Two players can play any skater in any world and compete in a series of skate games.

Create-a-Skater

  • Make your own custom human kid to skate in the game. Additional items to customize your skater are available every time any challenge is completed in story mode.

Cheat Codes

  • The game supports seven cheat codes that allow the player to unlock other skaters and open worlds and extra stuff without completing the challenges.

Levels

The game consists of four different worlds. A main "real world" and three Disney worlds. Each Disney world has three sub levels (10 levels in all). In every Disney world level the player will interact with Disney characters from that world.

1) Olliewood This is the "real world" where human skater lives. The town consists of an open air shopping center, a grocery store, a park, a movie theater, a parking garage, a McDonald's, a very small aquarium, a warehouse, a recycling center, a skate park, a small harbor with a lighthouse, a bascule bridge, and a ship. There is also a giant Olliewood sign that resembles the hollywood sign. The human skater can undertake challenges here such as making deliveries for McDonald's, activating the lighthouse, racing, trashing the grocery store, competing at the skate park, and collecting ringtones for a Nokia phone. The skater can also warp to the Disney worlds from Olliewood.

2) The Toy Story World

  • Andy's Room: Skate the bedroom and personal bathroom of Andy from Toy Story. Get flushed down the toilet and skate tricks in the bathtub.
  • Pizza Planet: Skate the children's restaurant from the movie. Turn on all the video games and rides. Skate the dining room booths and counter. Perform high scoring tricks by going into the pizza oven and finding a secret passage from the kitchen into the video game room.
  • Emperor Zurg's World: Skate the lunar surface outside Emperor Zurg's place and find the secret way into his base. Then skate three rooms and finally challenge Emperor Zurg to a skate contest.

3) The The Lion King World

  • Pride Rock: Skate Simba's home. Release water from the top of pride rock for the lions and chase the hyenas away.
  • The Elephant's Graveyard: This is the home of the hyenas. Skate the bones of the dead elephants and dodge lava pits.
  • Scar's Canyon: Defeat Scar and the hyenas and become a legend by grinding the canyon of Simba's uncle.

4) The Tarzan World

  • Tarzan's Tree house: Skate the massive tree house of Tarzan and challenge the henchman.
  • The Human Camp: Tear down the camp and grind the tents. Then navigate your way through a jungle by grinding vines to get to an oasis where more challenges await.
  • Clayton's Ship: Skate the steam ship of Clayton the hunter. Grind the smoke stack and remove barnacles from the hull of the ship. Finally capture Clayton and set the gorillas free.

Skaters and Characters

Taking a cue from Hollywood, Activision decided to cast real kids for the real world locale of Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure. The "Extreme Skate Crew" is a team of 10 playable characters modeled after real kids found from a nationwide casting call search. This team of skaters marked the first time Activision had actually cast real kids in a game. Activision held nationwide casting calls throughout early March of 2003 to find 10 kids between the ages of 6 -14 years old to be featured as playable characters in the game. The search included live events that were held at skateparks in San Diego, CA, Denver, CO, and Philadelphia, PA. Video footage of the competitions is played when the game starts up and is available as a unlockable video in the extras section.

Kids across the country also entered the search by mailing in a photo of themselves along with a videotape of their skateboarding skills. To continue involving kids across the country in the creation of this game, Activision created a special game Web site, www.extremeskateadventure.com , where these 10 kids had their information posted so that their family, friends and general public could vote online for the top two "Super Stars" during the month of April 2003, giving the game a reality programming twist. These two "Super Stars," who were chosen by their peers, became featured members of the "Extreme Skate Crew" and appeare on The Skate Stage at the beginning of the game alongside the film characters and have their names and stats on display. The two kids are Ryan and Mallie Ann.

In every world each skater has 25 items unique to that skater to collect. Beside each skater has the type of item it needs to collect. All humans collect medallions.
