Dno (Russian: Дно) is a town and the administrative center of Dnovsky District of Pskov Oblast, Russia, located 113 kilometers (70 mi) east of Pskov, at the intersection of two rail roads: Pskov–Bologoye and Saint Petersburg–Kiev. Population: 9,061 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 10,049 (2002 Census);[2] 12,406 (1989 Census).[3] Area: 1,194 square kilometers (461 sq mi).[citation needed]
Founded as a railway center in 1897, it was granted town status in 1925. The town remains to a large degree economically dependent upon rail-related activities.
It was home to Dno air base during the Cold War.
