Bower Ashton is a small district in
Southville, Bristolit is two miles to the west of the centre of Bristolon the western boundary with North Somerset. It is mainly a residential area but also contains the Faculty of the Creative Arts of the University of the West of Englandand the Ashton Park School/Sports Centre as well as about 180 allotments in 5 different areas.
Bower Ashton also is the location of the playing grounds of Bedminster Cricket Club (founded in 1847, for whom
W.G. Graceplayed) and has a small part of the Avon Trail (the old Tow Path) running along the River Avon in Greville Smyth Park. The park walk gives a classic view of the full span of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridgeacross the Avon Gorgebetween Leigh Woodsin North Somersetand Clifton in Bristol.
Across the River Avon are the lock gate entrances to Bristol Docks and the '
Floating Harbour' (completed in 1809) in Hotwellsand the large Samuel PlimsollSwing Bridge.

Ashton CourtEstate (where Bristol’s famous outdoor festivals take place) and Ashton Gate(home of Bristol City FC).
