Reginald Cuthbert Mills (
15 September ,1912 - 1990) was an Englishfilm editor .He graduated from
Cambridge University with a degree inmodern languages in 1934. He spentWorld War II serving in theRoyal Artillery , and was stationed in an AA battery on theThames Estuary throughout the whole of theLondon Blitz .After the war he began a fruitful association with the progressive film-making partnership of Michael Powell and
Emeric Pressburger , beginning in 1946 with "A Matter of Life and Death", followed by "Black Narcissus " in 1947. Mills received an Academy Award nomination in 1948 for his work on the duo's ballet masterpiece, "The Red Shoes".Mills edited a great deal of the major British film productions throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s, including "
The Spanish Gardener " (1956),Joseph Losey 's "The Servant" (1963) and "Tales of Beatrix Potter " (1971).He received BAFTA nominations for his work on two projects with director
Franco Zeffirelli : "Romeo and Juliet" (1968) and "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977). His last credit was as consulting editor on another Zeffirellli picture, "The Champ " in 1979.External links
