(1960)'Here and There'
(1960)Outward Bound is a jazz album by Eric Dolphy, released in 1960. It was his first album as leader, and is considerably less adventurous and more standardly beboppish than his later recordings, though there are unorthodox elements that point to what was to come. Still the album is a good introduction to Dolphy's versatile talents and to many it is likely a more accessible album than many of Dolphy's later more innovative recordings.
Of the three Dolphy originals on the album, "G.W." is dedicated to the Californian bandleader Gerald Wilson, "Les" is named after the trombonist Lester Robinson, and "245" was the number of Dolphy's house.
