Tony CupitoThe Shys are a five piece rock band from Southern California, Their current line-up consists of Kyle Krone, Chris Wulff, Riley Stephenson, and Ryan Hansen. Their debut CD, titled Astoria, was released on Sire Records on July 11, 2006. The bands reputation for their high energy captivating live performances has won them fans all across North America and the UK. The band have recently toured and played in support of Delta Spirit, Albert Hammond Jr. and Hot Hot Heat
Progression
The Shys' new album "You'll Never Understand This Band The Way That I Do" was released on July 22, 2008 on local Echo Park Indie label Aeronaut Records. The album has been met with critical praise from notable underground tastemakers such as. NPR, XMU Radio, UR Chicago and many others. The American Indie Bloggers have also has declared the new album a winner. "4 out of 5 Stars, You'll Never Understand This Band The Way I Do has big sing-out loud choruses. The Shys have recently completed recording a new EP produced by the band and Paul Mahajan who is known for his work with many influential acts such as TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National, and Liars. The band also worked with long-time engineer Mark Rains, who is currently working on the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album.
The band announced that they recorded for two days in familiar territory in Los Angeles at Station House Recording Studio (Hollywood Sound) where the band made their past three albums. To finish the record the band retreated to Palm Desert, California and used a mobile recording studio borrowed from friends Delta Spirit. The Shys have yet to announce a release date for the new EP.
