Expansion

In 2007 the University opened the new science building and the Nimocks Fitness and Wellness Center.[7] This year also saw the school purchase a 51% stake of the King’s Grant Golf Course to accommodate the increase of students admitted into the PGA approved Professional Golf Management Program.[8] In the spring of 2009 construction began on 8,884-square-foot (825.4 m2) William F. Bethune Center for Visual Arts.[9] The new football field house has been completed as of August 2009.[10]

Athletics

Golf is one of the most popular sports at Methodist. The lady monarchs are the current NCAA Division III women's national golf champions. Their 2011 championship is the 24th national title they have won and it extends their current streak to 14 consecutive titles.[11] The men's team also has 10 NCAA Division III national golf championships with their most recent victory being in 2010.[12]

The school also claims national titles in baseball and multiple conference championships in other sports. The baseball team is coached by third ranked D3 Coach Tom Austin who boasts over 900 wins in a 30 year tenure. The Monarch baseball team has reached NCAA National Tournament 22 times and reached the DIII College World Series six times. Their basketball and volleyball arena is the March F. Riddle Center, which is also home to the Carolina Cougarz of the Continental Basketball League.
