U.S. State ofIndiana is the name of two distinct north-south highways in the state ofIndiana . The northern route of the two starts at theMichigan border nearInterstate 94 (via M-239) and ends at Indiana 37 in Martinsville. The road runs south, passing through the following towns:
* Springville (intersects US 20)
* LaPorte (concurrency with US 35 and State Road 2)
* North Judson (concurrency with State Road 10)
* Buffalo (concurrency with State Road 16)
* Monticello (concurrency with US 421. Remains concurrent through Delphi, Rossville and Frankfort)
* Lebanon (interchange with I-65 Exit 139)
* Lizton (interchange with I-74)
* Danville (intersects US 36)
* Monrovia (intersects State Road 42)In the 1960s, State Road 39 was the connector between the west end of Interstate 94 (which ended just north of the Michigan-Indiana border) and the Indiana Toll Road. Hence, a dozen miles of this winding 2-lane road carried all of the heavy traffic between Chicago and Detroit.
Located in south-central Indiana, the shorter State Road 39 links State Road 250 near Brownstown with Little York in Washington County before terminating at State Road 56.
