República Deportiva

República Deportiva ("Sports Republic") is a weekly two-hour sports show on Spanish language United States television network Univision. It airs on Sundays and is hosted by popular television personality Fernando Fiore, one of the leading figures in sports in the U.S. and the principal anchor for Univision's 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup coverage. It also features Rosana Franco and Felix Fernandez, the latter an ex-football (soccer) goalie in the Primera División de México, Mexico's First Division, the professional Mexican league.

Another feature is three scantily-clad young women called "Senadoras" ("Senators"; Fiore is the "President of the Republic") as "artistic" background, as they rarely speak. República Deportiva has highlighted many sports figures, among them the boxer Oscar de La Hoya and World Series manager Ozzie Guillén of the "Medias Blancas" of Chicago — the Chicago White Sox.

Because of its American audience it focuses much attention on Major League Baseball in the United States as well as NBA basketball. However, it gives constant attention to Primera División de México and some attention to the soccer leagues in other countries, such as the American MLS and the Argentine and Colombian leagues. It also shows highlights of Italian, Spanish, English and sometimes even French and German football. There is also some coverage of Formula One motor racing.

There are many segments in the show. One very popular one is "Pregúntale a Felix" ("Ask Felix"), where fans send in questions about soccer and he answers them. They have lots of contests such as "Miss República". They also invite many famous athletes to the bar to talk.
