República Deportiva ("Sports Republic") is a weekly two-hour sports show on
Spanish language United States television networkUnivision . It airs on Sundays and is hosted by popular television personalityFernando Fiore , one of the leading figures in sports in the U.S. and the principal anchor for Univision's 2002 and 2006FIFA World Cup coverage. It also featuresRosana Franco andFelix Fernandez , the latter an ex-football (soccer) goalie in thePrimera División de México , Mexico's First Division, the professional Mexican league.Another feature is three scantily-clad young women called "Senadoras" ("Senators"; Fiore is the "President of the Republic") as "artistic" background, as they rarely speak. It also shows highlights of Italian, Spanish, English and sometimes even French and German football. There is also some coverage ofFormula One motor racing.There are many segments in the show. One very popular one is "Pregúntale a Felix" ("Ask Felix"), where fans send in questions about soccer and he answers them. They have lots of contests such as "Miss República". They also invite many famous athletes to the bar to talk.
