September 24 ,2005 , Hurricane Rita hit the Beaumont-Port Arthur area. The Southeast Texas Regional Airport terminal had to be shut down, so they had to use the old one temporarily. As of June 2008, renovations are being made to the terminal damaged by Hurricane Rita.References
