Kaspiysk (Russian: Каспи́йск), until 1947 known as Dvigatelstroy (Дви́гательстро́й), is a city in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, located on the Caspian Sea, 18 kilometers (11 mi) southeast of Makhachkala. Population: 103,914 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 77,650 (2002 Census);[2] 60,069 (1989 Census);[3] 43,000 (1972).
The city is home to a large naval storage facility that houses Russian hovercraft and ekranoplans.
